In recent years, the production of galvanized sheet in China has increased year by year, while the import volume has also increased year by year, and the growth rate is even higher than the growth rate of production; After deducting the repeated statistics of production, the consumption of galvanized sheet is about 5.27 million tons. After 1999, the import volume of galvanized sheet exceeded the production volume for the first time, and the self-sufficiency rate of domestic products was less than 50%, with a trend of decreasing year by year.

(1) Consumption status of galvanized sheet

In recent years, the increase of domestic galvanized sheet production is mainly due to the increase of hot galvanized sheet production. From 1998 to 2002, the production of hot galvanized sheet increased from 970,000 tons to 2,200,000 tons; The import volume grew faster, from 370000 tons in 1998 to 1.56 million tons in 2002; The apparent consumption increased from 1.32 million tons to 3.67 million tons. In 2002, the self-sufficiency rate of domestic products of hot-dip galvanized sheet was about 60%. The domestic production and import of hot-dip galvanized sheet in that year increased compared with that of the previous year, especially the import volume. This was mainly due to the increase in demand for thin hot-dip galvanized sheet for color coated sheet production, which led to a decrease in the self-sufficiency rate of domestic products.

(2) Consumption Status of Electrogalvanized Sheet

In recent years, with the rapid development of the household car market, the basic popularity of household appliances and personal computers, the massive export of electronic products, and the development of the anti-theft door market, the demand for galvanized sheet has grown too fast. At present, the production scale of galvanized steel sheet in China cannot meet the demand of domestic market in terms of quantity, variety and quality. From 1998 to 2002, the domestic production of galvanized steel sheet grew slowly, from 170000 tons to 400000 tons; The import volume grew rapidly, from 730000 tons to 1.78 million tons; The apparent consumption increased from 870000 tons to 2.16 million tons. The self-sufficiency rate of domestic products is less than 20%.
